PROJECT 1: Three Favorite Bloggers

Uncategorized

In fashion school, it can seem like everyone and their mother has a fashion blog. Every other Instagram post has a caption ending with “link in bio”, and 27th street is lined with fashionistas snapping photos of each other’s #ootd’s. With all of this noise surrounding blogging, it can be hard to determine which blogs are worth a read. I’ve come to really enjoy the work of several bloggers, but here are three of my absolute favorites.

Claire Marshall (heyclaire.com)

Claire Marshall is an American fashion, beauty, and lifestyle blogger based in Los Angeles. Claire first caught my eye with her edgy style and expert makeup tutorials via youtube, leading me to explore her blog. She really nails the “effortlessly cool” vibe that so many strive for. That was almost 5 years ago, and to this day, I eagerly await every time Claire posts. Claire is an expert content creator, ensuring that her brand is consistent along all platforms, and really has done an excellent job capturing a lifestyle aesthetic that isboth advertiser-friendly and appealing to her readers.

Jessie (sunbeamsjess.com)

Sunbeamsjess, or as she identifies herself on her blog, Jessie, is a 23-year-old fashionand lifestyle blogger from London, England. I first started reading Jess’s blog and watching her vlogs when Claire Marshall mentioned her in a post. At the time, Jess was an English student at Edinburgh University, posting about her class outfits, new additions to her beauty routine, and her travels during school breaks. Similar to Claire, Jess seems to be able to throw together an outfit and look effortlessly cool, but with a smart, classically British twist. I also love Jess’s blog because she turns me onto some British brands and online stores that I may not have heard of such as ASOS, Topshop, and Missguided, before they gained widespread notoriety in America.

Helen Anderson (theanderzapproach.com)Screen Shot 2018-02-05 at 2.01.42 PM.pngScreen Shot 2018-02-05 at 2.01.28 PM.png

Helen Anderson is an English lifestyle and fashion blogger based just outside of London. Helen first caught my eye because for a style blogger, she really does not pay very much attention to what’s trending or what everyone else is doing. She has her own unique catalog of references, frequently pulling pieces straight out of 70’s disco and 80’s glam rock. While others are reaching for neutrals and sleek muted tones, Helen clashes bright prints with textured coats, all topped off by her signature purple hair. She also is a singer in an alternative rock band called Box of Light, so the rock n roll aesthetic seeps into her lifestyle.
